Message ...I wanted to do something similar to my NA. I used to build groundpounders for dragracing in the late 80's-early 90's. back in those days,we all built cars the same way (port and polish everything, shave the heads, roller lifters/rockers/etc, big race cam, biggest valves we could find, stronger valve springs, 4.56 gear (or 4.88 for an 8th mile)spooled rear end, 400th, 4000 rpm stall converter. so I had plans to do something similar to my VG30DE. my buildup was projected at $15k.

HOWEVER, the week before I took my block to the machine shop, I saw a wrecked twinturbo sitting in a barn way out in the sticks. I offered the guy $1000 and towed the car home. now my car has lower compression, gets better fuel mileage, and at the blip of the throttle, has the HP of a 60's big block.

it may seem that the guys here are against you, but they are actually trying to help you (hard to believe, eh?). forced induction is the way to go. almost noone builds cars naturally aspirated anymore. not even the domestic groundpounder cubic inch loving guys.

if you wish to go the naturally aspirated route, I wish you success. just dont get bent out of shape when others try to tell you how to save money (I saved $11000)
